Cold Cuts

This was created to discuss a wide variety of topics, from current politics, game theory, poker, ecosytstems, herd behavior in the stock market, popular culture, trends and fads, and how everything ties in together, while trying to keep a tab on important but boring political issues. Instead of hot button issues, like flag burning, praying in school, gays, or praying in school while your burning a gay pride flag.

Rambling about Life

I have come to a conclusion, it is the answer to the meaning of life, and (drum roll) ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' '' ' ' ' '' ' ' ' ' '' ' ' ' ' The Meaning of Life, is to Live. Ha Ha Ha, so mother monkey muffin lovin ingenious. I suspect there might be an after life, who knows, but if there is, I'm sure its just good and shitty as being alive. The way some people picture it, you go to the pearly gates, others, you float around, and others reincarnation, well I think it would be cool to go float around, visit other souls and all the places I've never been to including outer space then be reincarnated as whatever I wish to be. I'd probably be a giant Crow, their one of the smartest birds, and I could fly, hope crows don't live too terribly long, if they do after a few years I would rather be shot down out of the sky by some blood thirsty hunter, then be reincarnated as a mountain lion, my favorite big cat, I think northern California / Oregon border would be nice. Then after a long life as a Cougar I think being reincarnated as a Giant Alpha Wolf would be awesome, be nice having a family after being a solitary cat the last life and after my wolf life is done maybe I'll come back as a human, If I had a choice I would be nearly the same as I am now, maybe a bit more ambitious. Its nice to dream what could be after death, just in case there's nothing, I'm trying my best with this life because its better than never existing or being dead no matter how crappy life gets. So really all I'm saying is we are here for the experience and we should all do the most with it because there's a balance, wild animals only have so many ways to die, where as we have nearly an infinite ways to die, and that's the balance. Especially since mosquito's kill the most people annually, then second people kill the most people annually, you won't find that in the animal kingdom. I'm not one of those religious people who think the world is coming to Armageddon, I'm not religious, maybe a tid bit spiritual but no new age crap, but I do think tons of people are going to die in the next hundred years and possibly 30 to 40% of the population wiped out, because I feel that mother nature is putting us in check, and if you don't think oil wars don't have anything to do with mother nature, well oils running low because were depleting resources plus fucking up the atmosphere, so people will die because of fighting over oil, and other resources. So I believe tons of people are going to die because of wars and natural disasters, nothing godly or biblical just too many people screwing up shit. Enjoy Life best you can, play your cards right and with a little bit of luck, life can kick ass for anyone who tries, and tries, and tries, and tries, and maybe a little more trying, with a little extra trying on the side along with a healthy amount of sex, olive oil, and curry in your diet, exercise, and any sort of decent education, I think self taught is the best, good to see through all the bullshit, propaganda, scare tactics, fast food commercials along with the food they sell that releases natural opiates in your brain, no they don't put opiates in your food, any comfort food that you crave that's usually not too healthy is a food the releases opiates in your brain, or receptors something like that, and pets are fucking awesome, only if you take care of them, don't have a pet if your going to neglect it imagine how shitty their life will be. Anyways this is the most unstructured, rambling, schizoid article I've ever written, don't have the time to make it professional, no ones paying me, might take me another half hour to spruce it up, so take out of it what you can, if you don't like it, print it out and wipe your ass with it, and tell me how it feels.

The forsaken Breed

Lola the APBT & Ursala the cat

Every year, hundreds of people are mauled by dogs. The most feared of all dogs is obviously the American Pit Bull Terrier. It is very sad to see such incidents take place for both the breed and the people. Sometime in the past 20 years the APBT has steadily grown to be nothing more than a fashionable accessory for thugish hoodlums of all races and walks of life. I find it very pathetic that there are people out there who actually feel tougher or cooler just because they own a pit bull. There must be a lot of insecurities in a man if he has to own a tough looking dog to fill his void. Besides the fact that these people contribute a bad reputation to the breed, worse is obviously the people that pit their dogs in fights. These people are usually malicious, desensitized with very little moral conscious if any at all. These trainers call themselves pros, and claim that this is their sport. I have no problem with a blood sport involving humans, such as extreme fighting, boxing, or tough men contests, because for the most part its the persons choice and death rarely results. On the other hand pit bulls are very loyal to people, and are the third most people friendly dog breed, making them easily trainable for just about anything to make their owners happy, and when it comes to fighting, they don't have a choice, they fight for their owner, because they want to please people anyway they can. If a pit bull loses a fight but survived with its life, most of the time the owner will either, shoot it, stab it, light it on fire, or let it loose in the city. All pit fighting dogs are severely abused growing up from puppy hood, some trainers will steal weaker toy dogs from peoples backyards for their pit bull to kill as part of their training. Then its no wonder why some of these dogs attack humans. Besides attacks coming from actual pit fighting dogs, there are pit bulls who are household pets by fairly responsible owners, who have still attacked people. Is it an evil dog? No, There may be a responsible person, but could be an irresponsible dog owner. Pit Bulls are an extremely high energy dog, they need lots of exercise to let off the pressure, unlike people, dogs don't watch t.v. or have a lot of hobbies to choose from, and a lot of owners leave them locked in the house or the backyard all day which is not a stimulating environment. Along with a lot of exercise the dog must also have rules to live by in its life, if you don't establish yourself as the Alpha leader, the dog will test the limits of everything. So people need to set boundaries for dogs every time they do something undesirable, of course in a non-violent, non aggressive way.
As the Dog Whisperer would put it, in a calm assertive way. The last thing I will cover on the American Pit Bull Terrier goes with all dogs, its about natural selection. Some dogs may develop a sort of aggression when they sense fear in another animal, whether it be a rabbit or a human. In the wild wolves sense fear as a weakness, and kill whatever they sense it in, even another wolf, to ensure the pack consist of the cream of the crop, its simply natural selection. Yes wolves and dogs do have compassion, just not as much as we people do, wolves in a pack do take care of one another, if a wolf in a pack is injured in a hunt the others will feed it and nurse its wounds. So, the lesson on the last subject is, try not to be afraid of dogs, by doing so your telling them your weak and they are in charge. I would like to credit Cesar Milan, The Dog Whisperer, from who I learned a great deal more about dogs, and suggest to anyone who is interested on such topics to read his book. My sister attended a live seminar and was lucky to get an autographed book which I read after her and found it to be very logical.

Not a typo

Part of the title of this blog includes the word evosystems, no its not a typo of ecostystems. Its a word I made up which could be added to Websters Dictionary if i'm ever as lucky as Stephen Colbert and his famous "truthiness". Usually when I come up with an original thought or idea, I am like most, to only realize later that someone has already thought of it. After my evosystem idea, I felt the same way, surely someone else has already thought of this. Well I gave the tried and true Google a search for evosystems, and it happens to be the name of a few companies, besides that, I was happy to find that it is indeed not a word found in any dictionary or encyclopedia.
Now the definition of my new word means; basically rapid evolution due to rapid environmental changes, which could apply to a lot of things. Such as wildlife, of course due to our massive impact on the earths atmosphere, it is quite obvious there are numerous areas of evosystems around the world, such as logging in the rainforest and rapid depletion of polar ice caps which will conclude in the inevitable extinction of the wild polar bear. Note I said wild, i'm sure they will survive in zoos and breeding programs. Besides the rapid evolutionizing of ecological systems in nature, it is no doubt more obvious in the corporate, media and commercial consumers world, and if you also happen to be a fan of poker, you have seen over the past decade the rapid growth of players and fans alike due to online poker gaming, and televised events. This has basically saturated the World Series of Poker with so many players, especially the main event; Texas No-Limit Hold-em, that famous poker players are feeling some discomfort from the growing difficulty of theirselves to make it to the final table, getting tired of no-name players winning the main event recently while famous star poker powerhouse players are no where to be seen. They themselves are grouping together to make changes to the tournement so they can survive more easily in the rapid evolving poker world.

Welcome

Welcome to the new blog, I've had a sort of ephiany a couple weeks ago, that i would like to amass a discussion about.
After playing poker for a while, I realized that it reflects ecosystems in everyday life. Which seems to basically boil down to the strong living off the weak. This can be seen anywhere, in a poker game, the sharks surviving off the fish, a discovery channel documentry, a chetah surviving off antelope, in popular culture, whole companies changing their products to survive off the feeding frenzy on the next trend, and in the stock market, hype being made about a company thats hot, which its usually not all that hot, except when the hype has grown strong enough for a huge number of investors to buy shares, raising the price enough for the intial investors producing the hype, to cash out and walk away with a marginal gain while others lose a little money, and politics which has a lot of grey area, I can't really list any examples off the top of my head on that one. Please share any thoughts and information which tie in to any of these topics or related topics, I've always known from being taught evolution as a kid, about natrual selection and only the strong survive, but only recently have my eyes opened where this theory can be applied to virtually anything.
